The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Sudurpaschim Provincial Government held a special discussion in Kathmandu on Monday.
CNI Sudurpaschim Government Discussion Investment
The talks focused on the upcoming Investment and Development Conference to be organized by the province.
During the meeting, Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah urged investors to actively participate in the conference and explore opportunities in sectors with high potential. He emphasized that the private sector must take a leading role in the province’s economic transformation.
Commitment to an Investment-Friendly Environment
Chief Minister Shah assured that the provincial government is committed to creating an investment-friendly environment. He highlighted that necessary legal and policy reforms would be introduced, along with full protection of investors.
Addressing concerns about land acquisition, Shah stated that the government itself would provide land for industries if investors face difficulties in purchasing. He further promised to deliver key infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and water.
“Tell us how much land you need for the industry. The provincial government will guarantee it. Roads, water, electricity—we will make sure they reach the industry site. Your role is to invest with confidence,” he remarked.
Cooperation with the Private Sector
Shah underlined that the federal and provincial governments, along with all major political parties, are united in drafting investment-friendly laws. He stressed that the provincial government wants to move forward hand in hand with the private sector.
Priority sectors for investment include agriculture, hydropower, tourism, and industries with high growth prospects. The conference aims to showcase these opportunities to both domestic and foreign investors.
CNI’s Support and Commitment
CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey assured that the confederation will extend full cooperation to make the investment and development conference a success.
He highlighted that increased private sector investment is vital for the overall economic development of Nepal. “If favorable laws, policies, and an investment-friendly environment are ensured, Sudurpaschim has the potential to attract significant investment,” Pandey said.
Suggestions from Industrialists
Former CNI President Haribhakta Sharma addressed the challenges of land acquisition for industries. He suggested that the government should adopt simpler and faster procedures to attract investors.
“If the government ensures hassle-free processes, investment will flow naturally. No government can move forward without the active participation of the private sector,” Sharma stated.
Similarly, CNI Vice President Rajbahadur Shah said the confederation is ready to coordinate effectively for the success of the upcoming conference. He emphasized that the government must provide legal, administrative, and policy facilitation beyond just investment.
Calling Sudurpaschim a “fertile land for investment,” he highlighted the region’s potential in agriculture, hydropower, and industrial growth.
High-Level Participation
The discussion witnessed the presence of provincial ministers, former ministers, lawmakers, and senior government officials. From the CNI side, Senior Vice President Nirvana Chaudhary, National Council members, leading industrialists, and Director General Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha were present.
The meeting reflected a strong sense of collaboration between the government and the private sector, signaling optimism for the success of the forthcoming investment and development conference.
Conclusion
The upcoming Sudurpaschim Investment and Development Conference marks a significant step toward regional economic transformation. With the provincial government pledging investment-friendly policies, land, infrastructure, and security, and the CNI committing to active support, expectations are high.
If successfully implemented, the conference could attract both domestic and foreign investors, unlocking the economic potential of Sudurpaschim Province and contributing to Nepal’s broader development goals.
