ITU’s Legacy and Vision for a Connected Future

What began as a collaboration between 20 nations in Paris has evolved into a global movement to foster inclusive and sustainable digital transformation. The ITU remains committed to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that no one is left offline in an increasingly connected world.

Connectivity for Refugees: Empowering Through Digital Skills

One powerful example of ITU’s impact is visible at a refugee camp in Jordan, where displaced individuals are gaining digital literacy and skills, from beginner to expert levels. According to the Director of ITU’s Telecommunication Development Bureau, this initiative reflects ITU’s core values of inclusion and empowerment, ensuring connectivity for refugees and underserved communities.

Space Connect: Ensuring Safety in Orbit

As space activity grows, ITU is also leading global discussions on space governance through its Space Connect webinar series. Experts emphasize the need to address safety, security, and sustainability to safeguard future satellite operations and promote responsible use of outer space.
