With a starting price of Rs. 48.99 lakhs, the Deepal S-05 offers a compelling blend of futuristic design, advanced technology, and practical features, making it a strong alternative to popular models like the BYD Atto 3 and the MG ZS EV.
Variants and Pricing
The Deepal S-05 has been launched in two distinct variants to cater to different customer needs:
- Deepal S-05 Plus: Priced at an introductory Rs. 48.99 lakhs.
- Deepal S-05 Max: Priced at an introductory Rs. 54.99 lakhs.
These competitive prices are expected to drive significant interest and position the S-05 as a value-for-money proposition in the luxury compact EV segment.
Design and Interior: A Blend of Style and Comfort
The Deepal S-05 is not just another EV; it’s a statement. The vehicle, a winner of the prestigious iF Design Award, boasts a bold aerodynamic silhouette and a sleek, modern aesthetic. The exterior is highlighted by frameless doors and unique star-feather-inspired LED taillights.
Inside, the S-05 truly shines with its focus on luxury and comfort. A standout feature is the “Queen Co-pilot” seat, which offers a zero-gravity comfort experience, complete with ventilation, leg support, memory function, and a convenient one-touch nap mode.
The cabin is further enhanced by a 14-speaker surround sound system with outdoor speakers and premium interior craftsmanship. The SUV also includes a generous 160-liter frunk, or front trunk, providing extra storage space not found in many internal combustion engine vehicles.
Performance and Battery Technology
Under the hood, the Deepal S-05 is engineered for efficiency and performance. It is powered by a 99 kW motor that generates a healthy 320 Nm of torque, ensuring a responsive and enjoyable driving experience. The motor is paired with a 56.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. This battery provides an impressive NEDC-certified range of up to 470 km on a single charge, making it suitable for both daily commutes and longer journeys.
The battery system itself is a key highlight. The S-05 is equipped with the Golden Shield Battery System 2.0 from CATL, a global leader in battery manufacturing. This system is designed for durability, with a remarkable lifespan of over 600,000 km. It also supports 3C charging, enabling rapid DC fast charging of up to 150 kW, which drastically reduces charging times.
Smart Features and Safety
The Deepal S-05 is loaded with cutting-edge technology designed to enhance both safety and convenience. One of its most innovative features is the Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD), a first in its segment. The AR-HUD projects live navigation, traffic signals, speed, and other essential information directly onto the windshield, allowing drivers to stay informed without taking their eyes off the road.
Safety is paramount, and the S-05 is equipped with ADAS 2.0, an advanced driver-assist system that includes 19 intelligent features. These include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, traction control, and auto-hold functionality.
The vehicle’s comprehensive safety suite is supported by six airbags, five HD cameras, five mm wave radar units, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, providing a 360-degree view of the surroundings and helping to prevent collisions. Additionally, the remote in-and-out parking feature makes navigating tight parking spots a breeze.
With its competitive pricing and a feature set that rivals higher-end models, the Deepal S-05 is poised to make a significant impact on Nepal’s rapidly expanding EV market. The launch of such advanced vehicles underscores the growing interest in green mobility and signals a promising future for electric transportation in the country.
