Minister Adhikari Inaugurates The Facility
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, officially inaugurated the center. The building was developed under the Rural Enterprise and Economic Development (REED) Project, which falls under the Ministry’s leadership.
Speaking at the event, Minister Adhikari said the center will help farmers access services for soil testing, crop and plant health, and livestock diseases. Farmers will now get these services in their villages.
Focus On Accessibility And Efficiency
The minister emphasized the government’s goal. “We want farmers to get easy and fast services without leaving their communities,” he said.
He explained that the center would help reduce dependency on faraway labs like those in Kathmandu. As a result, it will save time, energy, and costs for farmers.
The minister added that the facility is part of a broader plan. The government wants to bring technology and science closer to the agriculture sector. “Our decisions are starting to show results,” he noted. “We’ll see even greater progress soon.”
Budget Plans For Agriculture
Minister Adhikari also talked about the upcoming national budget. He shared that the ministry has submitted several proposals focused on agriculture reform.
“Some of our plans will be addressed through the budget,” he said. “We expect positive changes to start next year.”
The government is also revising existing policies. Recently, it amended the fertilizer procurement guidelines to shorten the buying process. This change is expected to speed up fertilizer delivery and help reduce seasonal delays.
Research Center In The Pipeline
Minister Adhikari revealed another key plan. The government is preparing to set up an Agricultural Research Center under the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) near Salyantar, Dhading.
According to him, the groundwork is almost done. He urged local governments to support this initiative. The center will promote research-based farming in the region.
Local Services Under One Roof
At the event, REED Project Director Dr. Chandra Prasad Risal gave more details. He said the center will provide comprehensive services under one roof. These include:
Soil and crop testing
Animal disease diagnosis
Veterinary consultations
Agri-advisory services
“Farmers no longer need to go far. Everything they need is here, in their municipality,” Dr. Risal said.
He added that the project focuses on helping farmers become more productive. Access to local services will lead to better planning and improved yields.
Rural Municipality Backs The Project
Chairperson of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality, Raju Upreti, also spoke at the event. He said the center would serve farmers from neighboring municipalities as well.
He called it a breakthrough for local agriculture. Before this, farmers had to travel to Kathmandu for basic tests. Now, they can get the same services locally.
“This center will not just support our farmers—it will boost production and self-reliance,” Upreti said. He promised to work closely with the center to make it a model of local service delivery.
Positive Step For Farmers
The center represents a big leap forward for farmers in Dhading. It brings together multiple services at a single point. This saves time and simplifies the farming process.
It also strengthens the link between the government and rural farmers. With ongoing support, it could transform how agricultural services are delivered in Nepal.
Looking Ahead
Minister Adhikari stressed that this is just the beginning. More service centers will be developed in other rural areas.
“We’re focused on improving agriculture through science, research, and accessibility,” he said.
He also reiterated that local governments must play a proactive role. The central ministry is ready to work with municipalities to scale similar projects across the country.
Conclusion
The inauguration of the Agriculture and Livestock Service Center in Tripurasundari, Dhading, marks an important development. It reflects a shift towards farmer-focused service delivery in Nepal.
With government backing, modern infrastructure, and local involvement, the center is expected to become a key support system for farmers in the region.
As new projects like the NARC research center take shape, Dhading could emerge as a hub for innovation in agriculture. The government’s actions signal a growing commitment to rural empowerment through science, infrastructure, and timely services.
