Amid a grand event held at Shital Niwas, ‘Digital Signature and Certificate’ was formally launched by handing tokens with certificates each to Hon. President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Hon. Prime Minister Mr. K.P. Oli and Hon. Minister of Communications and Technology, Mr. Sher Dhan Rai.
Addressing the event, the President said that, “Proper use of digital signature can help make public service more efficient and trusted.” She added that “This would be a milestone in promoting e-governance.”
In his speech, the prime minister talked about electronic diversity and focused on the importance of digital signatures for safe e-transactions. Likewise, referring to the numeric name as a new technology, he outlined that it will save time, enhance trust, and bring a social transformation by providing qualitative and modern service.
Delivering his welcome speech, the Information, Communications, and Technology Minister, Sher Dhan Rai said that. “Digital signature will make B2B, B2G, G2G, G23C and C2C transactions more effective and easy to use and also prove a landmark in bringing in foreign investment in the country.”
Secretary Mr. Sunil Bdr. Malla said that by making digital signature useful, electronic transactions could be more expanded.
The controller of Office of Controller of Certificate (OCC), Mr. Birendra Mishra unveiled the produced certificate by root signing it. The event was also addressed by International Finance Corporation (IFC) country manager, Wendy Joe Werner.
The OCC had organized the program. IFC, World Bank aided to complete the project of the digital signature. Radiant Infotech has been authorized to issue these certificates while Nepal Certifying Company would managing once they are released.
