Dipendra Singh Airee’s Heroics Seal Thrilling One-Run Win For Nepal Against UAE in Super Six

Nepal pulled off a nail-biting 1-run victory against the UAE in a thrilling Super Six encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia & East Asia Pacific Qualifier.

The match lived up to the legendary saying, “If you are a heart patient then never watch a Nepali cricket match,” as the momentum swung till the very last ball.
Nepal, batting first after winning the toss, posted a total of 140/6 in 20 overs, powered by a solid half-century from opener Aasif Sheikh (51 runs off 47 balls).
Contributions also came from Kushal Bhurtel (28 runs) and Captain Rohit Paudel (20 runs). Gulshan Jha provided a late flourish with a quick 14 runs off just 5 balls.
Despite a strong start (73/1 in 10 overs), Nepal’s scoring rate slowed down significantly in the latter half.
Chasing 141, the UAE looked comfortable at one stage, standing strong at 82/1. However, Nepal’s bowlers mounted a fierce comeback, putting pressure on the middle order.
The UAE slumped to 99/6, but a crucial cameo from Dhruv Parashar (38 runs) kept them in the hunt, including some crucial big shots.
The drama peaked in the final over, with the UAE needing 10 runs to win. Captain Rohit Paudel handed the ball to Dipendra Singh Airee.
Although Parashar smashed a six off Airee, he was immediately caught out on the next delivery, shifting the game’s balance yet again.
With 3 runs required off 2 balls, a run-out attempt resulted in a short run, and no runs were added to the score.
Ultimately, the UAE could only manage 1 run off the final delivery, falling short by the narrowest of margins.
Dipendra Singh Airee was the star with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs, including the decisive final over.
Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, and Gulshan Jha each picked up one wicket. For the UAE, Alishan Sharafu’s fighting half-century (58 runs) went in vain.
