Django Workshop And Competition Kicks Off In St. Lawrence College

CSITAN Association of Nepal and St. Lawrence College successfully co-organized “Django Workshop and Competition.” The final project demonstration competition was held on 18th Bhadra, 2073 in St.Lawrence College. The event which was inaugurated by Principal of St. lawrence College, Mr. Purushottam Maharjan had 8 Teams competing for the trophies. Judging panelists of the competition were felicitated with “Khada” by Chairperson of St.Lawrence College, Mr. Keshav Prasad Dangal.

Judges of the competition: Mr. Manish Modi, CTO of Sparrow SMS, Mr. Karmath Dangol, VP Engineering Cloudfactory, and Mr. Prakash Neupane, Co-Founder of Nepflights judged eight projects developed in various themes of development: Education Sector, Environmental Issues, Health Sector, Social Issues and Internet Of Things. A mentoring session on “Career in IT” was conducted in parallel by CEO of Leapfrog Academy, Mr. Dixanta Bahadur Shrestha.”

Forty-two participants from 11 different IT Colleges in Nepal were trained for three days on Python and Django Framework by Santosh Purbey of Bits Innovation Pvt. Ltd. Each attendee of the workshop was made to form a team of a maximum of 4 participants and was given a week time to prepare a working prototype solving real-world problems. As a gesture of thank you, judges, guest speaker and Instructor of the event were provided with a Token of Love by St. Lawrence College. The event coordinated by Pratik Basyal was formally concluded by President of CSIT Association of Nepal Ms. Loomila Hada. The supporters for the game were BitsInnovation Pvt.Ltd.,Voklagyo.com, Nepsofttech, CSIT App and Merocopy.com.

1st Team:

Team Name: Deploy Bot

Team members name: Prasanna Mishra(Python Developer); Nabin Kharal (Back End Developer);

Pravin Pokharel (Sys Admin); Birendra Bhatta(Backend Developer)

Project Theme: Internet Of Things(IOT)

Project Detail: Their project is an IOT project which uses a raspberry pi that connects to users server and helps usermanage their website by chatting with it on the telegram.

-Three, 1-hour mentoring session on UI/UX Design to each team members provided by CloudFactory

2nd Team:

Team Name: IFC(Information For Change)

Team members name: Dinesh Shrestha(Front End Developer); Asish Gurung(Front End Developer); Summit Shrestha(Back End Developer)

Project Theme: Education Sector

Project Detail: Their system includes books where every user can read, add and modify the content of the books. This system has features that enable users to add new information on anything. Their system’s fundamental goal is to promote the education system with the development of internet library which includes all the education related news articles and notes. From a basic level to higher level their product focused on upgrading the education system, and everyone can contribute their Knowledge.

3rd Team:

Team Name: PS

Team members name: Pukar K.C.(Developer); Shrawan Poudel(Developer)

Project Theme: Internet Of Things (IOT)

Project Detail: Their system continuously checks the twitter data 24/7 and if something wrong hashtag is done in twitter then their system capture that and inform to the responsible organization.
