At the ongoing NADA Auto Show in Bhrikutimandap, MAW Vriddhi Company, the official distributor for China’s Dongfeng, has unveiled the “Nami VIGO” electric SUV, a vehicle designed to redefine comfort, convenience, and electric mobility.
The NADA Auto Show, a premier event organized by the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association, serves as the perfect platform for this innovative launch.
The Nami VIGO, internationally known as the “Nami 06,” is being introduced in two variants, the VIGO-E2 and the VIGO-E2 Plus, promising to be a versatile and affordable option for a wide range of buyers.
A Seat That Becomes a Bed: The Highlight Feature
The most talked-about feature of the Nami VIGO is its revolutionary seating system. All five seats can be folded flat, creating a seamless, spacious surface of 1.8 meters.
This is a level of convenience typically found only in high-end, premium SUVs. Whether you’re on a multi-day road trip, a family camping adventure, or just need a comfortable space to relax after a long drive, the Nami VIGO offers a cozy, bed-like environment right inside your car.
This ingenious design eliminates the stress of finding last-minute lodging and adds a new dimension of freedom to travel. Each seat is also equipped with ventilation features, providing warmth in winter and a cooling effect in summer, ensuring comfort in all seasons.
Performance and Power That Go the Distance
Beyond its unique comfort features, the Nami VIGO is a powerhouse of technical performance. Both variants are equipped with a permanent magnet electric motor that delivers a robust 99 kW (135 horsepower), allowing for a top speed of 150 km/h.
The VIGO-E2 is powered by a 44.94 kWh battery, offering a certified range of 300 km on a full charge. The VIGO-E2 Plus, with a larger 51.87 kWh battery, extends the range to an impressive 350 km.
This range makes it feasible to cover popular routes like Kathmandu to Pokhara on a single charge, a crucial factor for Nepali drivers. When it comes to charging, the Nami VIGO offers versatility.
With a standard 7 kW AC charger, a full charge takes approximately 7-8 hours, perfect for overnight home charging. For those in a hurry, a 150 kW DC fast charger can boost the battery from 30% to 80% in a mere 15 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime on the road.
Smart Technology and Advanced Safety
Safety and technology are at the forefront of the Nami VIGO’s design. The vehicle features a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which provides partial self-control for steering, braking, and acceleration.
This system helps prevent accidents by warning the driver of potential hazards and automatically adjusting speed to maintain safety. The inclusion of four cameras (front, rear, and on side mirrors) offers a complete 360-degree view, enhancing safety and making maneuvering in tight spaces or challenging weather conditions much easier.
The exterior is defined by sleek, modern design elements, including distinctive LED headlights shaped like the number 7. The VIGO-E2 Plus variant includes an auto-adjusting brightness feature for enhanced visibility.
The E2 model rides on 17-inch wheels, while the E2 Plus sports larger 18-inch wheels. With a compact turning radius of 5.3 meters and a ground clearance of 170 mm, the Nami VIGO is well-suited for Nepal’s diverse urban and rural road conditions.
Stylish Interior and Competitive Pricing
Inside, the Nami VIGO is a hub of smart features and ample space. The cabin is centered around a large 12.8-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital driver display, providing a futuristic and intuitive user experience.
The interior also boasts customizable ambient lighting and a generous 500-liter boot space, which can be expanded to 1,000 liters, large enough to accommodate multiple suitcases for extended trips.
In a highly competitive EV market, MAW Vriddhi has positioned the Nami VIGO with an attractive pricing strategy. According to Bishal Sivakoti of MAW Vriddhi, the Nami VIGO-E2 is priced at NPR 3.899 million, and the Nami VIGO-E2 Plus at NPR 4.199 million.
With its combination of revolutionary comfort, strong performance, advanced technology, and a reasonable price point, the Dongfeng Nami VIGO is set to make a significant impact on Nepal’s electric vehicle landscape, proving that eco-friendly travel can also be incredibly comfortable and stylish.
