Everest Bank Limited has issued an important notice for its customers, confirming that select branches in the Kathmandu Valley will remain open on Friday, September 12, 2025 (Bhadra 27, 2082) to provide limited banking services. This decision is a direct response to the ongoing security concerns and operational challenges across Nepal, ensuring that essential financial transactions can continue smoothly. The limited hours and a focus on core services reflect the bank’s commitment to balancing customer convenience with the safety of both its staff and clients.
Operating Schedule and Strategic Branch Locations
Everest Bank has set a specific operating window for the day, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. During this four-hour period, customers can access essential banking services at seven strategically chosen branches across the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. These branches are:
- Kathmandu: New Baneshwor, New Road, and Kalimati
- Lalitpur: Bagdol and Lagankhel
- Bhaktapur: Thimi
These locations were selected to serve major residential and commercial hubs, allowing a wide range of Everest Bank customers to carry out urgent financial activities without the need for extensive travel. By concentrating services at these key locations, the bank can better manage customer flow and maintain a more secure environment.
Essential Services and Digital Banking
Everest Bank has clarified that the services available during the limited hours will be focused on the most critical banking needs. Customers can expect access to cash deposits and withdrawals, essential account services (such as balance verification and urgent account updates), and cheque clearing services. The emphasis on cheque clearing is particularly important for businesses and individuals who have time-sensitive financial obligations. The bank has also made it clear that non-essential transactions, like new account openings or loan consultations, will be paused until normal operations can resume.
To further support its customers and reduce the need for physical visits, Everest Bank is strongly encouraging the use of its digital banking platforms. The bank’s mobile banking, internet banking, and ATM networks remain fully operational and are available 24/7. Customers can use these platforms to perform a wide range of routine transactions, from fund transfers to utility bill payments, from the safety and convenience of their homes. This dual-pronged strategy of providing limited in-person services while maintaining a robust digital infrastructure is a key element of the bank’s crisis management plan.
Proactive Communication and Customer Support
In a period of uncertainty, transparent and timely communication is paramount. Everest Bank has provided dedicated customer support channels to assist customers and help them verify branch-specific details before traveling. The bank’s Customer Service Centre can be reached at 01-4200118, and it has also provided two toll-free numbers: 16600171718 and 18102171718. The bank has also advised customers to monitor its official website and social media channels for real-time announcements regarding the operation of other branches outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Everest Bank’s decision to limit its operations is consistent with the actions of other leading financial institutions in Nepal. Banks like Nabil Bank, NIC ASIA Bank, Global IME Bank, NMB Bank, and Rastriya Banijya Bank have all implemented similar temporary measures in response to the national challenges. This coordinated industry-wide response highlights the banking sector’s commitment to ensuring financial stability and public safety during a difficult time. By keeping select branches operational and providing multiple customer support options, Everest Bank demonstrates its resilience and its unwavering dedication to being a reliable financial partner for its customers.
