The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Mahabir Pun, has issued significant directives to the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) to address long-standing issues and improve the quality of technical education in Nepal.
Education Minister Pun Directs CTEVT
In a meeting held on Thursday, Minister Pun, in his capacity as CTEVT chairman, ordered immediate action on key areas, including curriculum revision, timely result publication, and grievance management.
Minister Pun’s Four Key Directives
Curriculum with Innovation
Minister Pun has instructed CTEVT to prepare a framework for reforming the existing curriculum and incorporating innovation into it. This framework must be submitted by mid-October. The goal is to align the curriculum with current industry demands and integrate new technologies and skills.
Results Within 3 Months
Addressing the chronic problem of delayed results, Minister Pun has directed the creation of a unified calendar and mandated that all exam results be published within three months of the exam’s completion. This will ensure students receive their results promptly.
Establish a Grievance Handling Branch
To address the concerns of students, parents, and teachers, a dedicated grievance handling branch must be established and made operational at the CTEVT office immediately. This branch will be responsible for documenting and addressing all complaints it receives.
Scrutiny of Affiliation Applications
Minister Pun has issued a strict directive to investigate all applications for affiliation received since 2012. He has ordered a full report to be submitted by mid-October, based on which a swift decision must be made to either grant or deny affiliation.
Minister Pun made these directives public through social media, signaling the government’s strong commitment to making technical education more systematic and of higher quality. The implementation of these directives is expected to bring about significant improvements in Nepal’s technical education sector.
