NAIMA Provides Emergency IT Support to Gen-G Protest-Hit Govt Agencies
Emergency IT Infrastructure Support
24th December 2025, Kathmandu
NAIMA successfully concluded and formally handed over emergency IT infrastructure support to the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) and the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO).
Emergency IT Infrastructure Support
These agencies were severely affected during the recent Gen-G protests. The initiative provided crucial assistance, enabling the affected offices to swiftly resume their public service delivery.
The handover was performed by a NAIMA team, including President Ritu Singh Vaidya, Board Member Yamuna Shrestha, and Executive Director Raj Kumar Dulal, on Tuesday. This assistance is a vital step toward restoring digital public services and strengthening traffic management ICT.
The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) recognized the immediate need for support following the Gen-G protests on September 8th and 9th.
The disruption severely damaged the physical infrastructure of key government offices. This damage directly impacted their ability to provide digital public services to the public.
NAIMA’s swift action ensured that critical services were not halted for an extended period. The association prioritizes collaborating with public service providers.
This small but significant support during a time of crisis is a matter of pride for the organization, as stated by President Vaidya. They are committed to strengthening such partnerships in the future.
Restoring Digital Public Services at DoTM
Director General Rajiv Pokharel of the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) expressed profound gratitude for NAIMA’s timely assistance. He acknowledged that the emergency IT infrastructure support received was “extremely important.”
The aid enabled DoTM to resume full-scale operations from its own office immediately. Executive Director Dulal provided specific details on the DoTM relief. It included the complete reconstruction and repair of all windows and doors of the main building at DoTM, Minbhawan.
This repair work was crucial to protect the department’s internal network and hardware, ensuring the security and continuation of digital public services like driver’s license processing and vehicle registration.
Strengthening Traffic Management ICT
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO) also received substantial support. Senior Superintendent of Police Navaraj Adhikari, Chief of the KVTPO, highly praised the institutional support provided by NAIMA and its members.
The assistance focused on bolstering traffic management ICT. The KVTPO received essential items such as furniture, furnishings, computers, and printers.
These assets are critical for improving data processing, communication, and overall efficiency in traffic control and enforcement.
SP Adhikari noted NAIMA’s success in establishing a long-term partnership with the traffic office in a short period. He further characterized the organization as a reliable partner in traffic education and traffic management ICT efforts.
Commitment to Public-Private Collaboration
NAIMA’s functional concept is rooted in collaboration with agencies involved in public service delivery. The successful handover of the emergency IT infrastructure support underscores this commitment.
This initiative is a powerful example of how private sector associations can actively support the government in maintaining operational capacity.
This partnership is vital for ensuring the resilience of core government functions, especially those dependent on technology and infrastructure.
NAIMA remains dedicated to being a staunch supporter of both physical and digital public services infrastructure across Nepal. The successful completion of this project is a model for future collaborative efforts between industry bodies and governmental public service agencies.
