11th October 2024, Kathmandu

A transformative five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on Career Guidance was successfully conducted from September 26 to October 1, 2024.

Empowering Teachers For Career Guidance

Organized under the Global Grant Project by the Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town, the initiative aimed at empowering teachers from government high schools with essential career counseling skills to better guide their students.

Workshop Overview: Empowering Teachers for Career Development

The workshop, led by Edulift, a non-profit organization, focused on key topics such as Career Discovery Path, Exploring Interests and Aptitudes, Career Mapping, and Goal Setting. Eight teachers from five different schools—Jana Uddhar Secondary School, Shree Bal Sudhar Secondary School, Bal Uddhar Secondary School, Gyanodaya Secondary School, and Sahayogi Secondary School—participated in the training. The schools are located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Gokarneshwor Municipality, and Budhanilkantha Municipality.

Addressing the Need for Career Guidance in Nepal

The Career Connection project, part of the Rotary Club’s initiative, seeks to address the critical gap in career guidance for students in Nepal. Many government schools lack the resources and expertise to provide professional career counseling, leaving students without the necessary guidance to make informed career choices. This workshop aimed to fill that gap by equipping teachers with the knowledge and tools to help students discover their career interests and plan for their futures.

Expert Facilitation and Future Impact

Facilitation for the workshop was provided by Career Coach Nepal Pvt. Ltd., ensuring a comprehensive and impactful learning experience. Beyond this initial training, the project plans to offer follow-up support and additional resources to the participating schools, ensuring a long-term impact on both educators and students.

Conclusion

The Career Connection Project is a step forward in addressing the need for career counseling in Nepalese schools. With more initiatives like this, students from government schools will receive the guidance they need to navigate their career paths successfully.
