A research validation workshop focused on ‘Enhancing Parental Roles in Protecting Children from Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse’ is set to take place. Conducted in the Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts, the research involved a comprehensive approach, including surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews. The findings seek to inform appropriate technological interventions and policy recommendations.

Mr. Chiranjibi Adhikari, a cybersecurity expert and General Secretary of CAN Federation, will be the guest speaker. He emphasized that Child Online Protection (COP) is not only a challenge for Nepal but also a global issue. He advocates for a holistic approach, international cooperation, and national coordination to safeguard children from online threats while enabling them to benefit from online opportunities.

The workshop will also address significant obstacles in protecting children in the digital age, such as technological addiction and cyberbullying. Video games, social networks, and various applications are designed to be addictive, capturing children’s attention for prolonged periods.
