Maruti Suzuki has officially lifted the curtain on its first all-electric model for the Indian market, the highly anticipated eVitara 543km Range Electric SUV.
eVitara 543km Range Electric
This groundbreaking vehicle immediately sets a new benchmark in the electric vehicle segment. The top-spec variant boasts an impressive ARAI-certified range of up to 543km, thanks to its larger 61kWh battery pack.
This positioning makes the eVitara 543km Range Electric SUV one of the longest-range electric SUVs in its class, signaling Maruti’s aggressive entry into the high-tech EV space.
Dual Battery Options for Maximum Flexibility
Maruti Suzuki is offering two distinct battery configurations to cater to different user needs. Buyers can choose between a 49kWh unit and the long-range 61kWh unit. Both configurations employ a reliable front-wheel-drive motor setup.
Performance Tiers: The Delta base trim is paired with the 49kWh battery, which powers a 142 bhp motor. This setup delivers 192.5 Nm of peak torque.
High-End Power: The mid-spec Zeta and top-spec Alpha variants receive the more potent 61kWh battery pack. This larger unit is matched with a motor that produces a stronger 172 bhp output.
Bookings for this technological marvel are set to open shortly. The official market launch is planned for early 2026. Maruti is also innovating the ownership model, confirming plans for subscription and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) schemes. These flexible options are expected to significantly lower the entry barrier for prospective EV owners.
Uncompromising Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance
The eVitara has secured a prestigious five-star rating from Bharat NCAP for both adult and child protection. This achievement highlights the engineering integrity of the vehicle.
Crash Test Scores: The electric SUV performed exceptionally well in safety assessments. It recorded 31.49 out of 32 points for adult safety. Furthermore, it achieved 43 out of 49 points for child safety.
Standard Tech and Safety Kit: The safety feature list is extensive and modern. It includes seven airbags as standard across all variants. Crucially, the SUV integrates a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Additional standard features are tyre pressure monitoring, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function.
Tech-Centric Cabin and Infotainment
The interior of the eVitara is a departure from traditional Maruti designs, emphasizing a high-tech and connected experience. The cabin design centers around two prominent digital screens.
Digital Cockpit: A floating 10.25-inch touchscreen is the heart of the infotainment system. This is complemented by a large 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver.
Ergonomics and Design: The dashboard features clean, rectangular AC vents and retains physical climate controls for ease of use. A stylish, flat-bottom two-spoke steering wheel is also included.
Dimensions: The exterior dimensions are 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height. This size gives the SUV a commanding presence on the road. It also maintains urban maneuverability with a 5.2-meter turning radius.
Exterior Design: From Concept to Reality
The styling of the eVitara is heavily influenced by the earlier EVX concept, translating its bold, futuristic lines into a production model.
Key design elements include:
-
Sharp headlamps and distinctive Y-shaped DRLs (Daytime Running Lights).
-
Bold cladding surrounding the wheel arches and lower doors, enhancing its SUV stance.
-
A modern, connected tail-lamp treatment across the rear.
Premium Features and Connectivity
The feature set across the three variants (Delta, Zeta, and Alpha) is highly competitive. Even the base Delta trim comes well-equipped with amenities like keyless entry, push-button start, and an auto-dimming IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror).
Higher-tier variants elevate the luxury and technology:
-
Comfort: Ventilated front seats, adding comfort during long journeys.
-
Convenience: A 10-way powered driver’s seat and wireless charging capability.
-
Aesthetics: Large 19-inch alloy wheels and front fog lamps.
-
Audio: An immersive Infinity audio system for a premium sound experience.
Positioning in the Competitive EV Market
The eVitara 543km Range Electric SUV is poised to take on a fiercely competitive segment in India. Its range, safety ratings, and advanced tech package make it a formidable competitor against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6, Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra BE6.
Maruti Suzuki is not just entering the EV market; it is aiming to dominate it with a product defined by superior range and cutting-edge technology.
