FAO Nepal FANSEP-II Project: Boosting Food Security & Climate Resilience

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Nepal recently held its Annual Review Meeting for the groundbreaking FANSEP-II Project, covering the fiscal year 2081/82.

A Project Praised for Lasting Impact

The meeting was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister Mr. Ram Nath Adhikari, who lauded the FANSEP-II Project for its pivotal role in uplifting the livelihoods of farmers throughout Nepal. Minister Adhikari underscored the critical need for the project’s activities to continue beyond its official completion, ensuring a sustainable and lasting impact on rural communities. This emphasis highlights the commitment to long-term agricultural development and food system resilience in the country.

Recognizing Excellence in the Field

During the review, special recognition was given to the Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha clusters for their exceptional efforts and outstanding work in implementing the project’s initiatives. Their success serves as a testament to the dedicated on-the-ground efforts driving the project’s overall achievements.

The meeting commenced with insightful opening remarks from National Project Director Dr. Arun Kafle. Further addresses were delivered by Dr. Govinda Prasad Sharma, Secretary of Agriculture Development, and Dr. Deepak Kumar Kharal, Secretary of Livestock Development, both of whom underscored the collaborative efforts and strategic importance of such initiatives for Nepal’s agricultural future.

Building a Resilient Food System in Rural Nepal

The FANSEP-II Project has demonstrably enhanced food and nutrition security at the grassroots level. By focusing on critical areas such as:
