FAO Nepal Announces Short Video Competition on AI and Agrifood System Transformation
7th August 2025, Kathmandu
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Nepal has launched an exciting short video competition aimed at showcasing how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can revolutionize the country’s agrifood systems.
FAO Nepal Short Video Competition
The initiative is a prelude to the highly anticipated Nepal Food Forum 2025 (NFF).
The competition, open to youth, innovators, students, and content creators, challenges participants to create a video of up to two minutes on the theme, “How AI can take forward the Agrifood System Transformation?” Participants can submit videos in either English or Nepali and must ensure the content directly relates to AI and agriculture.
This contest is designed to promote innovative thinking and digital transformation in food systems, addressing critical issues like food security, farming efficiency, and climate change. “This is not just a contest—it’s a movement to reimagine the future of food, farming, and technology in Nepal and beyond,” the FAO stated.
Submission Details and Prizes
Videos must be in a vertical 9:16 format, ideal for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Submissions will be judged on their relevance to the theme, creativity, technical quality, and overall impact.
The deadline for submissions is August 20, 2025. To enter, creators must upload their video to their social media accounts (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube), fill out a required form in the caption, and tag @FAO Nepal.
The winners will receive a cash prize of NPR 20,000, exclusive gift hampers, and the honor of having their video featured at the Nepal Food Forum 2025. This provides a unique platform for Nepali creators to have their voices heard in global discussions.
The competition is a key part of FAO’s mission to raise awareness about smart agriculture, support youth-led innovation, and amplify local voices in the global conversation on building a more food-secure and climate-resilient Nepal.
