The presence of high-level dignitaries further underscored the significance of the forum. The Rt. Hon. Narayan Prasad Dahal, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Nepal and Chief Guest of the event, lauded the unwavering enthusiasm and dedication of the young participants.
He passionately declared, “Young farmers are not only the backbone of our food systems but also the architects of a more inclusive, sustainable, and food-secure Nepal,” stressing the indispensable role of youth in national development and food security.
Reaffirming the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s unwavering commitment to youth engagement, Mr. Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, highlighted the establishment of the World Food Forum Nepal Chapter. He stated, “Through forums like this, we recognize their role as drivers of innovation and resilience,” acknowledging the critical contribution of young Nepalese in building a sustainable and resilient agricultural landscape.
The forum concluded with impactful technical sessions that laid out a clear “call to action.” Participating institutions, development partners, and youth networks were urged to enhance youth involvement in policy dialogue, actively promote agri-entrepreneurship, and effectively mainstream climate-smart agricultural practices.
This forward-looking approach aims to integrate young voices and innovative solutions into the core of Nepal’s agricultural strategy, ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for the nation’s agri-food sector.
