In a special ceremony, FNCCI awarded Goverdhan with a cash prize of NPR 300,000, while her coach, Mr. Kaviraj Negi Lama, received NPR 125,000, and her manager, Mr. Ram Chandra Shrestha, was awarded NPR 75,000. Goverdhan made history by becoming the first Nepali athlete to win a medal at the Paralympics, securing a bronze in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

During the event, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal congratulated Goverdhan, her coach, and her manager, expressing his pride in being able to recognize their achievements. He also urged members of the private sector to increase their support for athletes like Goverdhan and the sports sector as a whole. “Nepali youth are incredibly talented,” said Dhakal, “and just like in other countries, Nepal’s private sector should collaborate with the government to promote sports.”

Goverdhan’s victory came in the 57kg K-44 category, where she defeated Serbia’s Marija Micev with a score of 15-8 to claim the bronze. This win marked a historic moment for Nepal, being the first Olympic or Paralympic medal ever secured by the country. Goverdhan expressed hope that her success would inspire future generations of athletes.

FNCCI President Dhakal emphasized that Goverdhan’s achievement has set a new benchmark for Nepali athletes on the global stage, and it is a moment of pride for the entire nation. The FNCCI, as a nonprofit organization representing Nepal’s private sector, has called for increased cooperation between businesses and sports to contribute to Nepal’s sustainable growth.
