Addressing a program jointly organized by the UK–Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Nepal in London, President Dhakal highlighted that Nepal offers attractive investment opportunities in hydropower, tourism, agriculture, information technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing. He encouraged British entrepreneurs to explore and invest in these promising sectors.
The event, held at the Embassy of Nepal in London, aimed to strengthen the economic relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom. It saw the participation of business leaders, investors, and community representatives from both countries.
In his keynote remarks, President Dhakal noted that Nepal and the UK share over 200 years of historical ties, including the recruitment of Gurkha soldiers, development cooperation, education, and trade. He emphasized that the time has come to elevate this relationship through enhanced trade and investment.
Stressing Nepal’s vast investment potential, Dhakal explained that Nepal’s strategic geographic location, young and skilled workforce, low labor costs, and a growing middle class have created a favorable investment climate.
“Nepal has attractive opportunities in hydropower, tourism, agriculture, IT, infrastructure, and manufacturing. The country has the capacity to generate more than 40,000 MW of hydropower. Clean and green energy is the future, and we invite British companies to be part of these opportunities,” said Dhakal.
He added that the skills and capabilities of Nepal’s youth in the field of information technology could transform Nepal into a competitive hub for outsourcing and digital services. FNCCI, he assured, is committed to providing investors with necessary facilitation and a stable environment for investment.
President Dhakal also praised the role of the Nepali diaspora in the UK in strengthening bilateral relations. He stated that the Nepali community could further contribute to the promotion of Nepali products, tourism, and other areas.
The event is expected to take the trade, investment, and cooperation between Nepal and the United Kingdom to new heights.
