FNCCI President Meets Qatar Chamber Chairman Al Thani, JBC Meeting to be Held in Kathmandu

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), and Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, met in Qatar to discuss strengthening economic and business relations between Nepal and Qatar.
FNCCI President Meets Qatar Chamber Chairman
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized mutual cooperation and agreed to hold the next meeting of the Nepal-Qatar Joint Business Council (JBC) in Kathmandu soon.
The JBC has become a key platform for promoting trade and investment between the two countries. Dhakal highlighted the importance of finalizing the membership list promptly to make the council more effective.
Strengthening Nepal-Qatar Trade and Investment
Praising Qatar’s support in establishing the JBC, Dhakal urged Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Nepal. “There are investment opportunities in many sectors, including hydropower, solar energy, information technology, fintech, and agriculture-based industries,” he stated. He emphasized that Nepal offers a conducive environment for investment and innovation.
Dhakal also underscored the importance of digital transformation at FNCCI and the potential for collaboration with the Qatar Chamber. He proposed sharing knowledge on AI-based business facilitation tools, blockchain-based trade documentation systems, and digital platforms for business matching and investment promotion.
“Qatar’s expertise in advanced digital technologies will provide invaluable support to make FNCCI a modern, technology-friendly organization,” he added.
Qatar Chamber’s Commitment
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani expressed commitment to finalizing and enhancing the effectiveness of the JBC mechanism. He assured that Qatar would actively participate in initiatives to strengthen economic and business ties with Nepal and continue dialogues and meetings like this in the future.
Invitation to Nepal International Economic Summit (NIES)
FNCCI President Dhakal invited the Qatar Chamber and the Qatari business community to participate in the Nepal International Economic Summit (NIES), scheduled in Kathmandu in February next year. A special Qatar-focused investment session will be organized at the summit to further boost bilateral economic relations.
Promoting Nepali Products in Qatar
Dhakal highlighted the potential of Nepali agricultural products, including tea, coffee, cardamom, herbs, and processed foods, in the Qatari market. He proposed joint efforts on certification, standardization, and branding initiatives to meet international standards and increase market access.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials and business leaders from the Qatar Chamber, including Chairman Al Thani. Both sides expressed optimism that continued cooperation and strategic dialogue would elevate the Nepal-Qatar economic partnership to new heights.
