29th June 2025, Kathmandu
The Foton Tunland G7 was built to reach the heights of Nepal and is more than just a pickup; it’s a competent off-roader. The Tunland G7 became the world’s first pickup to complete an adventurous overland trek to eight of Nepal’s highest and hardest destinations over 23 rigorous days. This was not a test; it was a challenge to highlight what true strength, reliability, and innovation look like under real-world extremes.
Foton Tunland G7 Conquers Nepal
The Foton Tunland G7 travelled through Hikila, Darchula (2,300m) to the border of Korala (4,660m), passing through Phalame (2,450m), Khangsar (3,700m), Sandakpur (3,636m), Dhorpatan (3,000m), Gupha Pokhari (2,890m) and finishing in Jumla (2,515m). These destinations are famous for not only their height but also for having tracks with rough roads, steep slopes, and variability in terrain; the Tunland G7 handled them all, clearly showing it’s built for active use in the Himalayas and not just on highways.
With its 160hp and 390 Nm of torque, the Foton Tunland G7 was nothing short of remarkable. Added features like Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control gave safe and steady navigation through the steepest sections. Even the just-off-vertical climbs felt controlled and comfortable.
But while the exterior is a beast, the Tunland G7 offers unexpected comfort inside. Throughout the challenging journey, the vehicle’s premium features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated seats with 12-way electric adjustment, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, smart push-start, and automatic air conditioning. These features didn’t just provide comfort, they made the grueling expedition genuinely enjoyable.
The record-setting ride was the majority of testing in Nepal, and the point of it was to show customers that the company didn’t just promise performance in the showroom, but deliver performance in action! The Foton Tunland G7 was designed for the hardest terrain in the world, and the Tunland G7 is not just able, it is re-educating everyone on what it means to be a 4×4 pickup in Nepal!
