The recently concluded NADA Auto Show, a perennial barometer of Nepal’s burgeoning automotive market, witnessed a landmark moment in the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
Geely EX5 NADA Auto Show
The star of the show was undoubtedly the Geely EX5, a premium electric SUV, which set a new booking record for its category, signaling a massive public vote of confidence in high-tech, sustainable mobility.
LRR Motors Pvt. Ltd., the authorized importer of DreamSmart China’s Geely vehicles in Nepal, announced a stunning achievement: a total of 187 bookings for the Geely EX5 during the six-day exhibition.
This record-breaking figure firmly positions the EX5 as one of the most anticipated EV launches of the year, underscoring the rapid and decisive shift of Nepali consumers towards electric vehicles.
Technology and Design Drive Record Sales
The overwhelming response can be attributed to the vehicle’s sophisticated blend of advanced technology, extended range, and captivating design. Displayed in its two variants, Max and Pro, the Geely EX5 stall became a magnet for show visitors seeking an electric vehicle that doesn’t compromise on reliability, premium features, or style.
The Pro and Max variants of the EX5, which reportedly offer a WLTP range of up to 430 km, are powered by a 160 kW motor and a 60.22 kWh LFP battery, delivering a quick 0-100 km/h acceleration.
Its attractive, spacious interior, featuring large high-definition touchscreens, advanced safety features (ADAS), and a panoramic sunroof, impressed customers looking for a truly premium ride.
The Game-Changing Battery: Safety and Longevity
A major factor distinguishing the Geely EX5 and attracting discerning Nepali buyers is its innovative battery technology. Geely Holding Group, the manufacturer, has equipped the EX5 series with its own newly developed and enhanced battery.
This power unit has not only passed the rigorous eight-needle safety test but is also touted as the world’s first automotive battery certified to be water-proof, fire-proof, and bullet-proof—a major reassurance for customers concerned about battery safety and durability.
The longevity promised by this technology is equally compelling. The battery is designed to offer a lifespan of 3,500 charge cycles, which translates to approximately one million kilometers or an estimated 50 years of use under normal conditions.
This exceptional capacity far exceeds that of many other batteries currently available in the market. To further cement customer trust, LRR Motors is offering an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty on the vehicle’s high-voltage battery, mitigating one of the biggest concerns for potential EV owners in the Nepali context.
A Strong Start for a Green Future
Speaking on the unprecedented success, Adhir Shrestha, Head of Sales and Operations at LRR Motors, expressed immense satisfaction. “The overwhelming response for the Geely EX5 at NADA has greatly encouraged us.
Receiving 187 bookings in just six days is a clear indication of growing trust in Geely’s innovation and the rising demand for sustainable mobility solutions in Nepal. This success further strengthens our commitment to delivering world-class EVs to the Nepali market,” said Shrestha.
This record-breaking performance has solidified LRR Motors’ vision of promoting eco-friendly transportation and actively supporting Nepal’s green mobility future.
The strong market reception indicates that Nepali consumers are ready to embrace premium EV models that offer tangible benefits in terms of safety, range, and long-term cost of ownership.
In a move that will delight the excited new owners, LRR Motors also announced that deliveries of the booked Geely EX5 vehicles will commence immediately, ensuring that the record-breaking sales translate into immediate mobility on Nepal’s roads.
The Geely EX5’s success at NADA is not just a sales victory for LRR Motors; it is a clear indicator of the maturity and dynamism of Nepal’s electric vehicle landscape.
