Despite an earlier agreement to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the head of the interim government, legal hurdles have delayed the process.

Amid these discussions, Gen Z activist Sudhan Gurung has also been invited to Sheetal Niwas, signaling the increasing role of youth representatives in shaping Nepal’s political transition. Gen Z leaders have emphasized that their demand for constitutional compliance remains firm, and they are optimistic that a constitutional way forward will soon be finalized.

Sources at the President’s Office confirmed that consultations with constitutional experts are ongoing. Gen Z representatives have shown readiness to support a solution strictly within the framework of the Constitution, which has raised expectations that the interim government could be formed as early as today.

Earlier on Friday morning, the President’s Office at Sheetal Niwas instructed officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs to remain on standby to welcome the new Prime Minister, highlighting the urgency of the ongoing political process.

With growing pressure from youth movements and ongoing negotiations, Nepal may soon witness a crucial breakthrough in its interim governance structure.
