According to the Army, several media outlets have published reports based on misinformation, creating unnecessary confusion among the public. The statement urged both media houses and individuals to rely strictly on official sources and to cultivate the habit of fact-checking before sharing any news.
Viral False Claims Exposed
Since the start of the GenZ movement, social networks have been flooded with fabricated claims. One of the most widely circulated was:
“The bodies of 32 people who went missing after protesting at the Federal Parliament building on Monday were found.”
The Army confirmed that this claim, along with other similar rumors, is entirely baseless.
Call for Responsible Media and Public Awareness
The Nepal Army emphasized the importance of accurate reporting, urging the media to avoid amplifying unverified claims that could mislead citizens. The public has also been reminded to verify facts before believing or spreading content, especially during sensitive political movements.
