The loan aims to support the Government of Nepal’s strategy announced in the Fiscal Year 2082/83 Budget Statement, which targets achieving self-sufficiency in paddy production within the next two years.
Under this scheme, farmers can obtain loans of up to NPR 2 million from the bank to purchase paddy seeds, chemical and organic fertilizers, agricultural tools, and other essential farming materials.
The main objective of this loan program is to encourage farmers by promoting the proper utilization of arable land, increasing income through paddy cultivation, and making agriculture a respected and professional occupation.
In celebration of National Paddy Day, the bank also organized a paddy plantation program at a field near Radha Krishna Temple in Ward No. 1 of Tokha Municipality, with participation from the bank’s employees and residents.
The event was attended by Surendra Raj Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of Global IME Bank, along with bank staff and community members.
Speaking at the event, CEO Regmi emphasized that the bank is conducting such initiatives to increase paddy production and boost farmer morale by supporting the government’s strategy through modernization and commercialization of agriculture. He also expressed confidence that the newly launched Paddy Farming Loan would motivate farmers to cultivate paddy and contribute to increasing national production.
Considering the needs of its customers, the bank has continued to introduce various timely and relevant financial products to benefit them.
