Global IME Bank Limited organized a one-day hiking program from Machhegaun, Kirtipur, to the Champadevi Temple premises on the occasion of World Environment Day to collect plastic waste.
Global IME Plastic Waste Cleanup
The program was organized in collaboration with Kirtipur Municipality and the Nepal Red Cross Society, Kirtipur branch, during which approximately 150 kilograms of plastic waste was collected.
Additionally, bamboo baskets (bins) made by the local community were placed at various points along the hiking route for waste collection, which are believed to contribute to long-term waste management.
After collection, the waste was handed over to the waste management center of the municipality.
The event saw active participation from the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Surendra Raj Regmi, Deputy CEO Suman Pokharel, representatives from Kirtipur Municipality, officials from the Nepal Red Cross Society Kirtipur branch, bank employees, and local volunteers.
Besides banking services, Global IME Bank has been contributing significantly to the promotion of domestic products, climate change mitigation, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
In the same context of World Environment Day, the bank also carried out a nationwide tree plantation campaign.
Marking its 18th anniversary, the bank launched tree plantation programs in various locations across the country to plant 18,000 trees.
The bank believes that tree plantation will not only aid in environmental conservation and climate change mitigation but also positively impact the livelihood of local communities.
