Google Pixel 5 Overview

Google Pixel 5 was released on October 15, 2020. The new Google phone has an ultrawide camera and bigger batteries than any predecessor. One biggest change on Google Pixel 5 is its upper-midrange SoC with 5G connectivity.

Check out the Google Pixel 5 Price in Nepal with detailed specs below:

Design & Display

The Pixel 5 has thinner bezels compared to that of Pixel 4, and a hole-punch camera display on the front. The rear camera bump is more flushed which looks much sleek and nicer. It has reflective accents of the power button and Google’s “G” logo on the back. On the surface, It has the same aluminum design and the Pixel 4A 5G’s polycarbonate, or plastic, encasing. It feels denser, despite in hand being smaller. This phone also includes a fingerprint sensor at the back called “Pixel Imprint”. Seems like an odd choice as Google could’ve easily gone with an under-display implementation instead.

Google Pixel 5 Display

The Google Pixel 5 screen refreshes 90 frames a second, 90Hz display. Meaning the scrolling through news feeds and web pages is smoother. Sometimes the phone will revert back to 60Hz to save on battery life, like when an app doesn’t necessarily call for a high refresh rate or when the screen is static.

Talking about the physical dimension it measures 5.7 x 2.8 x 0.3-inches and weighs 151gm. Pixel 5 has a 6.0-inches OLED panel Always-on Display and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It boasts 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 432 PPI pixel density. Just Black, Sorta Sage are the colors available for color selection. About waterproof, it has an IP rating of IP68.

Performance

A lot of current flagships and last year’s Pixel 4 had a robustSnapdragon 855 chipsets but the Pixel 5 features a Snapdragon 765G processor. Still, the 765G adds a new feature that wasn’t there in its predecessor the integrated Snapdragon X52 modem for 5G connectivity. The device can be used with its Fi service, according to Google. Fi Service means Pixel 5 can intelligently switch between the Wi-Fi connections and multicellular network for the best coverage and bandwidth saving.

The Pixel 5 runs on Octa-core with Adreno 620 as support for graphics. For storage 8GB LPDDR4x RAM is available and 128GB UFS 2.1 ROM storage. The smartphone operates on Android 11.

Camera

The Pixel phones’ main selling point in past years is the camera. This time Google got rid of the telephoto lens from the Pixel 5 that was on the Pixel 4 and replaced it with an ultrawide camera. Thus we can have a wider field of view for sweeping landscapes or just fitting more space in a single frame. The camera’s low-light mode, branded as Night Sight, captures good photos in dim lighting. it also includes portrait mode so it can capture polished, dramatic pictures in the dark also.  Google also added a new tool for portrait lighting.

Google Pixel 5 Camera

Its primary camera is a Dual-camera with 12.2MP and f/1.7 aperture primary shooter and 16MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture. It can shoot videos of 4K at 30/60fps and 1080p at 30/60/120/240fps. Also, it has a dual-pixel phase-detection AF and supports both OIS and EIS in order to record stable video. At the front, it has an 8MP lens with an f/2.0 lens aperture which can shoot videos of 1080p at 30fps.

Battery

Google Pixel 5 is powered by a 4,080-mAh battery. It’s the highest capacity battery of any Pixel phone in past years. The battery life is about 21 hours for Playback on Airplane mode. Google has introduced a new mode in Pixel 5 called Extreme Battery. It’s an option that severely limits application usage to extend battery life. It supports USB Power Delivery 2.0, Fast charging 18W, Wireless charging 12W, and Reverse charging 5W.

Connectivity

For connectivity it features 5G, Dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0+LE, GPS, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C, hotspot, NFC connections. For security purpose, it has a Rear-mounted Fingerprint Scanner and also other sensors such as  accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer
