Kathmandu, May 5th, 2020
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology issued a notice on Monday (May 4, 2020) banning the enrollment of students in the new semester in the name of online teaching. The schools and colleges are not allowed to charge fees for online tuitions.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the government has imposed a nationwide lockdown for the past one and a half months. The education sector has been one of the most affected due to the lockdown.
Taking matters in hand, a few schools and colleges had started conducting online classes with the resources they could find. Even Universities like TU and KU released guidelines for running online classes. Moreover, some schools and colleges also created online admission forms to accept new admissions.
The Ministry has issued a clear set of instructions at such a time on the basis of ministerial decisions. The decision is based upon the issues regarding examinations and enrollment.
To address these issues, the Ministry has voted against new admissions to any class or level until further notice from the government.
