The event, organized by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), focused on the country’s infrastructure needs.

Dr. Rekon Chung, a board member of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation, shared South Korea’s experience in shifting from traditional infrastructure to green projects. He stressed the importance of considering environmental factors and the social cost of carbon in infrastructure development.

Robert Dobias, another expert, highlighted the need for nature-friendly infrastructure that minimizes environmental impact. He, along with other panelists, advocated for low-carbon materials and mass transport infrastructure over private vehicle-centric projects.

Experts also recommended mobilizing financial tools such as green bonds to support green infrastructure investments. They emphasized the crucial role of both the private sector and government policies in driving these investments.

CNI President Rajeshkumar Agrawal remarked that sustainable infrastructure is essential for Nepal’s long-term prosperity. He advocated for financial mechanisms like private equity infrastructure funds and local currency bonds to mobilize resources for infrastructure development.
