Kathmandu, March 27

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Hamro Patro, Nepal Medical Association (NMA) and Ncell jointly have decided to provide ‘Call to Doctor Service’ to all Nepalese people willing to ensure their safety against coronavirus (COVID-19).

Technological Approach to support our frontline fighters against Coronavirus

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a newly discovered infectious disease caused by SARS CoronaVirus-2. The increasing number of cases have compelled countries to take stern approaches to protect their citizens. They are trying their best to flatten the curve and avoid transmission of the virus.

At the time of writing, COVID-19 has affected a total of 172 countries. There are more than 470,000 cases of Coronavirus worldwide, which have claimed more than 20,000 lives. Italy is one of the worst-hit countries by this pandemic, where the death toll has surpassed China’s.

A report published by GIMBE has shown 2,629 medical workers have tested positive for COVID 19 in Italy. The enormous level of contagion on medical staff in Italy has for sure made us question our country’s investment in health worker’s safety.

Government’s  Steps  Against Coronavirus

In Nepal, there are 3 confirmed cases of Coronavirus. One of the three patients has recovered. Remaining two are in isolation for their treatment. The Government of Nepal implemented a 7-day lockdown from Tuesday. This resulted in the citizens leaving the capital city at an alarming rate.  Due to open borders with India and China, there is a constant fear among people about infected people entering the country.

In the beginning, due to increasing curiosity & fear, people were rushing to the emergency section of the hospital for a test. People mistook symptoms of seasonal flu for symptoms of COVID-19. Since symptoms of coronavirus and seasonal flu are common to some extent, we can’t blame them either.

While our government is promoting  #Work_From_Home and #Social_Distancing to reduce the spread of the virus, they are taking no chance in maintaining a proper health capacity system. To protect our front line fighters the government has requested; citizens to not visit hospitals for mild diseases and injury.

Technological Approaches

So now if I told you that you can consult a professional doctor while you are sitting on the couch of your room, would you believe me?

Well, it is possible now with the service provided by the Nepal Medical Association (NMA). To prevent overflow of people in hospitals while helping to overcome their fear, NMA has started the “Ncell Call to Doctor” service. This service is provided in association with the Nepali application Hamro Patro and Ncell. Using this service anyone can have a video call with trained medical personnel from NMA anytime. They have opened this service to provide proper medical service to local people. Also, to provide valid information and to answer queries about COVID-19. Their website covid.hamropatro.com provides all the information regarding COVID-19. They have provided symptoms and preventive measures of the virus on the website as well. In this period of lockdown, finding out that you can contact a doctor from your room using your phone or PC has surely made us relieved.

Hamro Patro team has also urged people to email at support@hamropatro.com for any health-related consultation or click here https://covid.hamropatro.com/
