The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has issued a pressing call to the government and security authorities to ensure the smooth management and facilitation of tourists affected by the ongoing crisis in the country.
HAN Facilitates Tourist Movement
In a press release issued today, Wednesday, HAN emphasized the critical need to protect Nepal’s tourism image and industry, which are facing significant challenges due to nationwide prohibitory orders and the closure of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The widespread unrest has created a state of uncertainty for both domestic and international visitors, leading to a surge in unexpected cancellations from abroad.
With the tourist season just beginning and major festivals approaching, HAN warned that a failure to take timely action could result in a long-term setback for the country’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination.
Preserving Nepal’s Tourism Reputation
HAN stressed that the facilitation of tourists is directly linked to Nepal’s international reputation. The association highlighted the importance of making proper arrangements for visitors currently in the country and those with future travel plans.
By ensuring their safety and providing necessary support, authorities can help minimize cancellations and restore confidence among travelers.
The appeal also serves as a strong condemnation of the acts of arson and destruction targeting hotels and other properties.
HAN stated that such destruction is a national loss, as limited resources that could be used for development would now need to be redirected toward rebuilding. The association urged all stakeholders to prioritize the protection of national assets.
Coordinated Support for Stranded Travelers
In a proactive move, HAN announced that it is working in close coordination with the Nepal Tourism Board and the Nepal Army to provide support to tourists who are stranded in different parts of the country.
This includes assisting with accommodation and other essential needs.
For tourists requiring immediate assistance, HAN has established a dedicated hotline number: 9851031495. This service is a crucial resource for travelers who are facing difficulties due to the crisis.
The Hotel Association Nepal’s message is clear: immediate action is essential to protect the nation’s vital tourism industry.
By ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists, Nepal can preserve its image, support its hospitality sector, and lay the groundwork for a swift recovery once the crisis subsides.
