Interestingly, the younger generation of men is showing increased interest in scooters, previously considered primarily a ‘women’s tool.’

In the four-wheeled car market, electric vehicles have made significant inroads. However, in the two-wheeler segment, conventional petroleum-fueled scooters continue to dominate. Electric scooters have yet to achieve similar levels of popularity.

Out of the 70,528 scooters imported into Nepal in the last financial year (2080–81), Honda captured the largest share, followed by TVS and Yamaha.

Honda’s Seven Variants

Honda has long been a leader in Nepal’s scooter market. Despite some weakening in its market share, Honda remains the top brand, accounting for more than half of the scooters imported last year. Saker Trading Company distributes various Honda models, including Dio, Grazia, Aviator, and Activa.

TVS on the Rise

TVS has become the second-largest scooter brand in Nepal. The ‘Ntorq’ model is offered in three variants, with Ntorq XP being the most expensive.

All TVS scooters sold by Jagdamba Motors Pvt Ltd are 125cc.

Yamaha’s Premium Range

Yamaha, the third-largest brand, offers premium scooters like Fascino, Ray, and Aerox. Prices range from Rs. 220,000 to Rs. 500,000.

Hero’s New Xoom Models

Hero’s official dealership recently changed to CG Motors, which has introduced the Hero Xoom model.

Vespa and Aprilia’s Slow Progress

Delta Autocorp Pvt Ltd, under Bhimsaria Group, now distributes Vespa and Aprilia scooters.

Vespa prices include:

Suzuki and Italy’s Sluggish Presence

VG Automobiles Pvt Ltd distributes Suzuki scooters in Nepal.

Italica, another lesser-known brand, offers:

Classic Wheel Export and Import Pvt. Ltd. handles Italian scooters.

Conclusion

Brands like Mahindra, Benelli, and Terra Motors did not enter Nepal last financial year, while various new electric scooter brands made their debut. However, the market growth for electric scooters lags behind that of electric cars.
