Since Microsoft has launched its “Anniversary Update” for Windows 10, you would get many unknowing facilities like Ubuntu file system to use “Bash to run command-line Linux” applications without a virtual machine. For this reason, Microsoft has released the first preview build of the Windows 10 to the members of its insider program. But one thing keeps in Mind that you should not run Ubuntu directly on windows ten since Ubuntu user-space packages running natively on windows ten by the company coming up with real-time translation of Linux systems calls into the windows system calls.

Furthermore the new bash shell support the features a full or complete Ubuntu user space used for tools like  ssh, apt, sync, find, grep, awk, sed, sort, xargs, md5sum, gpg, curl, wget, apache, mysql, Python, Perl, Ruby, PHP, vim, emacs and more. So if you like to test this feature you can install or run native bash on Ubuntu on Windows with these techniques or steps:

  1. At first, enroll in the Windows Insider Program and select “Advanced Windows Update Options” under “system settings.”
  2. Then set your update ambition to “the fast ring.”
  3. Then after now turn ON “Developer Mode” via settings > Update and Security > for developers.
  4. You now need to check for new updates, i.e., insider preview build 14316 and apply all updates and then restart your system.
  5. Then after turn ON the new windows feature, “Windows Subsystem for Linux (Beta).”

For this, you just need a 64-bit version of windows; otherwise, you won’t see this option.

  1. Then reboot your system.
  2. And then press the start button and type” Bash” or simply open CMD and type “bash.” This will automatically launch a console window powered by Ubuntu’s user-space.

Finally, you would have bash which is invariants of Linux.

There are also many new features in Build 14316 like Microsoft Edge Browser, New Skype Universal Windows Platform app, support for new emoji, and a new toggle that lets you switch between light and dark mode themes for windows settings, clock, calculator and other apps.
