Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications giant, has announced the creation of a 5G base station without using any US-based component. The company has announced that it will double the number of such stations within the next year without any assistance from the United States.
Huawei’s Chief Executive, Ren Zhengfei announced the launch of a mass production that will include no component from USA.
At a program held in Hong Kong, he said, “We are currently undergoing trial sessions and will start production of products that don’t have any US-components from October.” He also mentioned that the company is looking to create 5000 such base stations per month.
Huawei was hit by a trade war between the US and China and was handed a ban from buying and selling goods from US companies thanks to the President of the United States. Huawei’s 5G products were predicted to be affected by the US ban. However, Huawei has been negotiating 5G deals with other companies and is looking to shake off the after-effects of the ban.
Although Huawei manufactured telecommunication equipment, some of the main technology they used was purchased from US companies. After the ban that was imposed on May, the company announced that they would be producing the necessary components without any assistance from America. They’ve even rolled out their own operating system for their smartphones named the Hongmeng OS.
Huawei has actually dealt well with the ban and is coming up with 5G technology, that too without the components from some of the leading countries in technological advancements.
