This year’s edition of the program attracted over 650 applications from promising university students across Nepal. Following a competitive screening process, 30 students were shortlisted to participate in a series of technical trainings, workshops, and cultural exchanges aimed at nurturing the next generation of ICT leaders.
As part of the program, students visited a state-of-the-art data center in Kathmandu to gain practical exposure to how large-scale digital infrastructure operates. In addition, a workshop titled “Leveraging Technology for Multilingualism and Cultural Diversity” was organized by UNESCO in Nepal at the UN House, offering students a platform to engage in meaningful dialogue around culture, inclusion, and technology.
Students also visited the China Cultural Center, where they explored the rich history of Chinese culture and cross-border collaboration in education and innovation. Throughout the training phase, students were introduced to key digital technologies such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Clean Energy solutions, preparing them for the global digital economy.
The final interviews were held on June 25, 2025, where the shortlisted students were evaluated based on their CVs and core judging criteria: communication skills, tech aptitude, creative thinking, global awareness, SDG alignment, leadership qualities, and personal motivation.
The jury for the final evaluation comprised the experts from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, UNESCO, Nepal Telecom, and Huawei Nepal.
After careful assessment, the top five students selected for the regional round are: Adarsha Shrestha, Apala Timilsina, Dinanath Padhya, Manjila Pandey, and Stuti Dhungana.
During the final stage of the competition, the participants will benefit from networking opportunities, receive mentorship from local and international experts, and gain real-world business insights through the immersive program. They will also have the unique opportunity to explore China’s digital ecosystem, visit leading ICT and high-tech enterprises, collaborate with peers from across Asia Pacific to develop tech-based solutions addressing global challenges, and take part in interactive sessions with industry leaders shaping the future of technology.
