29th October 2022, Kathmandu

As a tech enthusiast, I was very impressed by the Seeds for the Future program conducted last year and had longed to become a part of this program since then.

Ultimately, I was listed for the interview based on my motivation letter and was finally selected as one of the 7 seeds of 2022.

My journey began with our very first event at the Ncell data centre and was jampacked with meetings at UNESCO, Dish Home and the Chinese Culture Centre. These events gave me deeper insights into the current technologies used in Nepal, accompanied by 6 other equally passionate team members.

After a grand opening, we students along with the public relation manager Mr. Supral Raj Joshi flew to Bangkok for a 10 days program attended by 116 students from 16 different countries.

I was all set for new experiences in Thailand however, I tested positive for Covid 19 at the very beginning of the program. Fortunately or unfortunately, I didn’t show any symptoms and was in good health but the uncertainty of the situation was mentally draining. For the next 4 days, I stayed in isolation in a separate hotel, away from my team.

The thought of being locked up alone, in a distant hotel, in a foreign land can be pretty nerve-racking but what I thought would be a tough time passed rather easily. The Huawei office made sure that I was medically well by arranging necessary tests and scans. Moreover, I was able to attend the events online assuring that I was still somehow involved in the program. The people there treated me with warmth and comfort owing to my recovery.

After my tests were negative, I joined my team in Hua Hin with double the energy and enthusiasm. I wanted to make the best of the days I had left in Thailand and so I did. I attended classes on AI, cloud computing and 5G from various professionals and also worked vigorously with my team on our tech4good project, Advait. Advait is a one-stop solution for solving the problems of counterfeit products using blockchain and AI. Eventually, our hard work paid off as team Nepal became one of the seven winners in the competition and got an opportunity to participate in the accelerator camp in Singapore. However, due to my semester exams, I had to return to Nepal cheering on the rest of my team for Singapore.

What I expected to be a new experience became one of my most cherished memories. Not only did I gain a better understanding of various technologies but also intermingled with international peers who possess a similar interest to utilize these technologies for the better good of the world. This program has reminded me of why I chose technology as my passion and guided me on how to pursue it as a career.

I am nothing but grateful to Huawei for this lifetime opportunity and also for the care and support in my time of need. I would also like to thank my beloved team for sticking together through thicks and thins. Lastly, I hope this program keeps motivating and transfiguring students like me in the coming future.
