This recognition underscores Hyundai’s rapid rise in the global premium electric vehicle segment and reflects the brand’s commitment to innovation, design, and sustainable mobility.

Selected by an independent jury of 40 leading automotive journalists, the IONIQ 9 outshone strong competitors with its elegant aerodynamic design, cutting-edge 800-volt fast-charging architecture, and luxurious three-row interior that delivers a lounge-like experience with advanced personalization features. The jury praised its spaciousness, technological sophistication, and attention to human-centered comfort.

IONIQ 9 reflects what we stand for: innovative design, a progressive mindset, and a commitment to human-centred, sustainable mobility,” said Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “Awards like this remind us we’re on the right track, driving us to keep pushing boundaries and create electric vehicles that inspire confidence, connection, and pride in every drive. IONIQ 9 shows just how far our brand has come in the past decade, and our commitment to continue leading the way in electrified mobility

As the flagship of Hyundai’s award-winning IONIQ lineup, the IONIQ 9 sets new benchmarks in premium EV performance, technology, and efficiency.

Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, it ensures ultra-fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes and delivers a driving range of over 500 kilometers (WLTP, depending on variant).

The vehicle features Hyundai’s latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with AI-supported voice recognition, next-generation connectivity, and sustainable materials that reinforce Hyundai’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The IONIQ 9’s global victory resonates strongly with Hyundai’s ongoing mission in Nepal to advance electric mobility. With models like the Kona EV and IONIQ 5 already leading Nepal’s EV market, and local assembly capabilities through Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., Hyundai Nepal continues to push boundaries to make world-class EVs more accessible for Nepali consumers.

The German Car of the Year (GCOTY) Award is one of Europe’s most respected automotive recognitions. Around 40 independent motor journalists evaluate new vehicles launched in the past year across five categories — Compact, Premium, Luxury, New Energy, and Performance — based on design, technology, efficiency, and innovation.

The IONIQ 9’s win in the Premium category highlights Hyundai’s global leadership in electric mobility and its dedication to redefining what premium electric driving stands for.
