The International Conference on Aquaculture and Fisheries (ICAF) 2024 in Chitwan focuses on the “Blue Revolution” to promote food security, economic growth, and environmental conservation.

Global experts discuss the role of fisheries in sustainable development and investment opportunities in Nepal’s aquaculture sector.

Themed “Blue Revolution for Healthy People, Economy, and Environment,” the conference emphasizes the critical role of fisheries and aquaculture in addressing food security, economic growth, and environmental conservation.

FAOR Ken Shimizu addressed “Blue Revolution for Healthy People, Economy, and Environment” at the International Conference on Aquaculture and Fisheries (ICAF).

He highlighted aquaculture’s important role in achieving food security, self-sufficiency, and sustainable development. The conference theme, “Blue Revolution for Healthy People, Economy, and Environment,” resonates strongly with FAO’s mission to enhance food systems for a more resilient future.

Honorable Ramnath Adhikari, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development mentioned that the International Conference on Aquaculture and Fisheries (ICAF) is a platform for driving sustainable growth in our aquaculture sector by harnessing the potential of our water resources to enhance food security, create economic opportunities, and protect our environment.

He focused on strengthening fisheries value chains, investing in innovative practices, and unlocking new avenues for sustainable development resulting in guiding our policies and actions as we strive to build a resilient community.

FAO has been actively collaborating with the Government of Nepal through a Technical Cooperation Program (TCP) to strengthen the Pangasius fish value chain. This initiative focuses on enhancing technical capacities and creating an investment-friendly environment for production and value addition in the aquaculture sector.

FAO congratulated the organizing committee for providing a platform to discuss Pangasius market dynamics, value chain enhancements, and the significant opportunities for investment in this sector.
