In a joint collaboration between ICT Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation, the ICT Gyan program has been successfully conducted across all seven provinces of Nepal.
ICT Gyan Digital Literacy
With the aim of spreading digital literacy throughout the country, the ICT Gyan program began on Jestha 16 (May 30, 2025).
The program was organized in various locations across all seven provinces, with participation from over 2,000 individuals, including teachers, students, public representatives, experts, and local citizens.
ICT Gyan was conducted in Morang of Koshi Province, Sarlahi of Madhesh Province, Dolakha of Bagmati, Syangja of Gandaki, Pyuthan of Lumbini, Salyan of Karnali, and Kailali of Sudurpaschim Province.
The literacy sessions emphasized several key points: not sharing OTP codes, not using random mobile applications, verifying whether websites are official, not sharing personal information based on someone’s request or suggestion, avoiding digital transactions on free Wi-Fi, using passwords with special characters that are difficult to guess, changing passwords regularly, using two-factor authentication on accounts, avoiding sharing documents like citizenship, national ID, or other personal identifiers on social media, and using mobile numbers registered under one’s own name.
Participants, including students, teachers, and local representatives, emphasized the need for more such digital literacy programs in many other places as well.
In response to the digital divide arising with the development and expansion of technology, the ICT Gyan initiative was launched under Ncell’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Organized as a province-level program to spread digital literacy from cities to rural villages, ICT Gyan provided knowledge and practice on topics such as cybersecurity, digital tools, electronic governance, and financial technology, delivered by subject matter experts.
It is believed that the ICT Gyan program will make a significant contribution toward building a digitally inclusive and technology-friendly society.
