IGI Prudential Insurance AML CFT Training Kathmandu Nepal Compliance

IGI Prudential Insurance Limited held a one-day training on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT). The session took place on Baisakh 18 (May 1) at Hotel Yellow Pagoda in Kathmandu. It focused on regulatory compliance and internal accountability.

Participation from All Departments and Branches
Senior officials attended the program, including the Chief Executive Officer, Yogesh Bhakta Bade Shrestha, and Deputy CEO Sharan Regmi. Department heads from Claims, Finance, Admin, HR, Compliance, Underwriting, IT, and Reinsurance also joined. In addition, underwriting and claims staff from Kathmandu Valley branches were present.
The seminar aimed to strengthen internal systems and raise awareness. The company brought together team members from all key areas to ensure a unified understanding and action.
Expert Insights on AML/CFT Practices
AML/CFT experts Dr. Hari Kumar Nepal and Mr. Padam Sodari led the training. They explained the current legal framework and compliance responsibilities for insurance institutions. The trainers also covered risk assessment, customer identification, and transaction monitoring.
They stressed the importance of practical enforcement in daily operations. Employees learned about new regulatory expectations and how to align their work accordingly.
CEO Emphasizes Rule-Based Operations
CEO Shrestha addressed the participants with clear directions. He said each employee must follow the rules, laws, and regulatory instructions. According to him, branch and department leaders must ensure their teams operate with full compliance.
He also highlighted the role of customer service. “We must serve our clients with quality while staying within legal boundaries,” he stated. Shrestha encouraged everyone to use company policies as their guide.
Deputy CEO Urges Strong Implementation
Deputy CEO Regmi supported the CEO’s message. He instructed department heads and provincial leaders to pass on the guidelines to their teams. Regmi made it clear that every action, especially related to customer handling, should follow legal procedures.
He urged employees to treat compliance as a daily responsibility. “There should be no gaps in meeting our legal duties,” he added.
Focus on Internal Discipline and Transparency
The training highlighted the company’s goal of maintaining discipline and transparency in all departments. With clear guidance from experts and leadership, staff are now expected to integrate AML/CFT principles into routine work.
