IME and Khalti Merger Marks Nepal’s Biggest Fintech Integration
In a historic move for Nepal’s digital economy, IME Digital Solution Limited and Khalti Digital Wallet have officially merged to form IME Khalti Limited, creating the largest-ever merger in Nepal’s fintech sector.
The merger, approved by Nepal Rastra Bank, marks a strategic consolidation between two of the country’s most innovative and widely used digital payment platforms. This unification aims to accelerate financial inclusion, expand access to digital financial services, and deliver enhanced value to customers, merchants, and stakeholders.
With this merger, IME Pay’s extensive remittance and mobile wallet network is now integrated with Khalti’s strong foothold in online payments, utility services, and youth-centric offerings. The new entity, IME Khalti Ltd., will offer a comprehensive suite of financial services under one platform, ranging from digital remittance, QR payments, utility bill settlements, mobile top-ups, government payments, and more.
The merger is not just a business transaction — it is a transformative step for Nepal’s digital payment landscape. Combining the technological infrastructure, merchant networks, and user bases of both platforms, IME Khalti is poised to dominate the market and innovate faster in a competitive fintech space.
Following the merger, Mr. Krishna Prasad Sharma has been appointed as the Chairperson of IME Khalti Ltd., leading a strong board that includes representatives from both the former IME Pay and Khalti teams.
This strategic alignment is expected to serve over 10 million users, covering every province of Nepal with a robust agent network, digital infrastructure, and inclusive financial solutions.
