The leading digital wallets in Nepal, IMEPay, Khalti, and PrabhuPay have integrated NEPALPAY QR such that their customers will now be able to use these wallets to scan & pay at NEPALPAY QR merchants.
The joint public announcement of the collaboration was done in an official program held today in Kathmandu in the presence of Neelesh Man Singh Pradhan, CEO (NCHL), Praveen Regmi, CEO, IMEPay Ltd., Binaya Khadka, CEO, Sparrow Pay Pvt Ltd. (Khalti), Ravi Sigdel, Operations & Finance Head, PrabhuPay Pvt. Ltd. along with representatives from BFIs, NCHL, and various media representatives.
NEPALPAY QR has been implemented and operated by NCHL as an implementing infrastructure of the NepalQR standard issued by Nepal Rastra Bank as part of the National Payment Switch (NPS).
The infrastructure allows to deploy as an independent QR scheme and also facilitates interoperability of QR at the issuing app level, merchant level, and network level.
There are over 27 BFIs and 3 PSPs currently acquiring such QR and over 25 BFIs and 9 PSPs whose mobile banking or wallets can be used to scan NEPALPAY QR payment, with others in the process of rollout.
IMEPay has over 4 million wallet customers. Khalti and PrabhuPay have over 3.7 Million and 0.9 Million customers respectively.
There are close to 350,000 merchants within the NEPALPAY QR network with total merchant access of over 600,000 including interoperable SMART QR merchants, which has also recently gone live.
Such NEPALPAY QR available at merchant points could be in the form of physical QR standee, dynamic QR integrated with their billing system or POS devices, or integrated QR-based payment gateway in their e-commerce portal.
Including BFIs mobile banking customers, wallet customers, and connectIPS users, NEPALPAY QR is now accessible to almost all digitally accessed customers in Nepal.
This collaboration of IMEPay, Khalti, and PrabhuPay within NEPALPAY QR is expected to further ease customers for making QR payments.
