Information And Technology Council Formed By Nepal Government

The Nepal government formed Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Council to be headed by the prime minister. The  Council established by the Government, a team of 23 members led by Prime minister

 According to the decision of the Cabinet meeting of ministers on Baisakh 30, a Council for ICT has been formed led by the prime minister himself. The board will comprise of Prime Minister as the chairman of the board whereas minister for science and technology and minister for information communication and technology as deputy chairman for the committee.

The other members will comprise the delegate and secretary of the National Planning Commission as well as the board of secretary for seven different ministries. The other members include Chairperson of Nepal Telecom, Secretary of Prime Minister and council of Ministers, Chairperson of Information Technology sector for Federation of Nepalese Chambers of commerce and Technology.

Further two associated with the association relating to Information and Communication Technology, two from university, two expert from the Information technology field and two entrepreneurs concerned with the Information Technology with a total of 23 members were included in the council.

The council comprises of the President and Third Vice president of Federation of CAN Er. Binod Dhakal and Romkant Pandey from the association category for the board. The board also has the Chairperson of Internet society  Nepal Chapter, Baburam Aryal, Sanjib Raj Bhandari from FNCCI. Prof. Dr. Sashi Dhar Joshi and Dr. Manish Pokhrel from the university. The chairperson of CAN Morang, Nirmal Tamang, Entrepreneur Suresh Regmi and Basant Ban are also the members.

The motive for the formation of the Council was for the change in the society due to the knowledge based on the use of Information Technology. Lately, the need for creation of a different ministry and committee for the ICT has resulted in the formation of the board. Previously commission for ICT was dissolved when Dr. Baburam Bhattarai was leading the government as Prime Minister.

The board was formed in Jestha 7 with the decision of Board of ministers. The members of the committee will dissolve in 4 years period.
