In an inspiring effort to foster environmental sustainability and enhance local biodiversity, the Jane Goodall Institute Nepal, Laxmi Sunrise, Tika Vidhyashram Higher Secondary School, and the Revolution Project joined hands to plant a 250-tree native pocket forest at Tika Vidyashram Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu.

Dr. Jane Goodall, a world-renowned ethologist and environmentalist, herself, graced this event, expressing her admiration for trees and praising the initiative’s role in advancing environmental education and sustainability. Dr. Goodall also commended Laxmi Sunrise for its commitment to green practices and environmental stewardship.

The 250-tree native pocket forest plantation was carried out using the Miyawaki technique – a proven technique for creating dense, native forests quickly. This approach not only promotes greater biodiversity but also creates a sustainable green space that can benefit the local ecosystem and provide students and the surrounding community with a lasting connection to nature.

Leading the forest plantation efforts were the experts of the Revolution Project with financial support from Laxmi Sunrise. This project also comes as a part of the Bank’s commitment to plant 1000 trees made in its 9th Invitational Golf Tournament ‘Swing for Sustainability’ held last November.

This collaborative initiative highlights the power of partnerships between environmental experts, businesses, and educational institutions in tackling pressing environmental challenges; and stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of collective action in the fight to preserve our planet and its ecosystems.
