JBL Go 3 overview
JBL Go 3 is a portable and affordable speaker. Unlike other JBL huge speakers, it’ll fit in any backpack easily. The speaker is also fully waterproof, making it ideal for outdoor use. This affordable speaker does its best to muster some rich low-end presence at higher volumes though it doesn’t have a powerful battery.
Design
JBL Go 3 has a rectangular body with rounded edges. It’s most part is covered in cloth grille, with rubberized feet on the bottom. In the front panel JBL logo is emblazoned in large letters and also a sleek lanyard is built into the left panel next to the USB-C port for the included charging cable.
Buttons:
- The power button and a Bluetooth pairing button is located on the right side
- Volume up/down and play/pause Button
- Pressed twice, the play/pause button skips forward a track.
- No track backward navigation and speakerphone functionality
JBL Go 3 is dustproof and has an IP67 waterproof rating which means it can be submerged up to a meter in water for up to 30 minutes. The speaker is available in black, blue, gray, red, or teal colors.
Talking about the physical dimension, it measures 87.5W x 75H x 41.3D (mm) long and weighs 209 grams.
Audio
You cannot expect much from an affordable speaker but the JBL Go 3 has some great features with clean, relatively loud mono audio from its compact frame. Go 3 delivers a Surprisingly punchy bass sound and big audio. This speaker manages not to sound thin overall and with top volumes, the driver manages not to distort even when the enclosure vibrates powerfully. Go 3 speaker features a 1.5” transducer and RMS output of 4.2 Watts. The frequency response of this speaker is from 110Hz to 20kHz.
Battery
Go 3 doesn’t have a powerful battery. It is powered by Lithium-ion polymer 2.7Whr and has a 2.5 hours charge time. The battery life is about Up to 5 hours (dependent on audio content and volume level) and USB Type-C port for charging.
Connectivity
For connectivity, the speaker comes with Bluetooth v5.1 and also supports a multi-point connection. Which means the speaker can connect to two devices at the same time. It’s Bluetooth transmitter power of ≤ 8 dBm (EIRP).
