The Information Technology Department of KMC provided ward secretaries with usernames and passwords for the Central Citizenship Information Management System (CCIMS). The department also conducted training sessions to help ward secretaries use the system effectively.

Key Features

The CCIMS allows ward offices to enter applicant details, verify documents, and upload scanned copies. It also enables online submission of applications to the District Administration Office. This eliminates manual data entry at the district level, speeding up the process.

The system has two modules: Internal and External. The Internal Module works on intranet-connected computers, while the External Module operates on internet-connected devices. This ensures data security and accessibility.

Implementation Status

The Ministry of Home Affairs has already implemented the system in around 2,500 wards across 20 districts. Kathmandu Metropolitan City is the latest to adopt this digital solution.

How It Works

Applicants must visit their local ward office with the required documents. Ward secretaries will enter the details into the system and forward the application online to the District Administration Office. Once approved, the citizenship recommendation will be processed without delays.

Benefits

The online system significantly reduces the need for paperwork, making the process more efficient and environmentally friendly. Automating data entry and document verification minimizes the chances of errors that often occur in manual processes.

This streamlined approach ensures faster processing of citizenship applications, saving time for both applicants and government offices. As a result, applicants experience quicker service, while government offices can handle more applications with greater accuracy and efficiency.

Conclusion

The introduction of the CCIMS in Kathmandu Metropolitan City marks a significant step toward digital governance. It reflects the government’s commitment to improving public service delivery through technology.
