This measure comes as a proactive step to prevent accidents and reduce congestion on major highways during the festive season.

Why the Ban on Tipper Trucks?

Assistant Chief District Officer Sudarshan Shrestha explained the rationale behind the ban. He highlighted that the decision was made to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience for thousands of people returning home for Dashain.

The BP Highway, Arniko Highway, and other key roads in Kavre often experience heavy traffic. The presence of tipper trucks can significantly increase the risk of accidents and cause major bottlenecks. The administration is actively working to minimize these risks.

The ban is a result of a decision made during the District Security Committee meeting on Bhadra 30. This committee is responsible for overseeing public safety and security in the district.

The members concluded that a temporary ban on heavy vehicles like tipper trucks was a necessary step. They believe it will create a safer environment for commuters. The new rule is being strictly enforced to protect lives and property.

When Will the Ban Be Enforced?

The ban on the operation of tipper trucks will be in effect from Ashoj 6 to Ashoj 22. This period covers the main days of the Dashain festival, when vehicle movement is at its peak.

The administration has clearly communicated the timeline to all stakeholders. This provides ample time for tipper operators and construction companies to adjust their schedules.

The ban applies to all parts of the district. All tipper trucks, regardless of their origin or destination, must halt their operations during this period. The administration has also set up checkpoints and deployed additional security personnel to enforce the ban. Violators will face severe penalties.

Strict Action Against Violators

The administration has issued a strong warning against any violations. Assistant Chief District Officer Shrestha stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found operating a tipper truck during the banned period.

The actions will be in accordance with the Transport Management Act, 2049. This law provides a clear framework for dealing with such offenses. Penalties could include heavy fines, vehicle impoundment, or other legal measures.

The authorities are committed to ensuring compliance. They are working with local police and transport authorities to monitor the roads continuously. This zero-tolerance policy is expected to deter potential violators. The administration’s message is clear: public safety is the top priority.

Exceptions to the Rule

While the ban is widespread, there are a few exceptions. The administration has clarified that the rule will not apply to vehicles used for essential services.

These include vehicles carrying emergency supplies, medical goods, or other critical items. This exemption ensures that vital services are not disrupted during the festive period.

This is a responsible move by the authorities. It balances the need for public safety with the need for essential services. The administration has urged everyone to cooperate with the new regulations. Their cooperation will ensure a safe and peaceful Dashain for everyone in Kavre.

This measure is a significant step towards improving traffic management during the festive season. The administration’s proactive approach is commendable. By taking these steps, they are ensuring that families can travel safely to their homes and celebrate Dashain without fear of accidents.
