Kantipur City College (KCC) has successfully launched its flagship technology exhibition, ‘KCC Exhibit 2025,’ with a powerful message on the urgent need for innovation and skilled human resources in Nepal.
KCC Exhibit 2025 Inaugurated
The event, inaugurated by the Honorable Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has emerged as a critical platform for shaping the country’s digital future.
Minister Gurung Highlights the Urgency of IT Development
Addressing a crowd of over 6,000 visitors, Minister Gurung stressed that Nepal cannot afford to fall behind in the global technology race. He emphasized the vital importance of developing a strong IT workforce and leveraging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance public service delivery and reduce corruption. The minister’s call to action underscored the government’s recognition of AI’s potential to drive efficiency and transparency in key sectors.
Student Innovation Takes Center Stage
The two-day exhibition showcased over 40 innovative, student-led projects, demonstrating the creative and problem-solving capabilities of Nepal’s young minds. These projects focused on themes of digital transformation and real-world application, attracting a diverse audience of students, educators, and industry professionals. The exhibit serves as a vital bridge between academic theory and practical, hands-on learning.
Institutional Support and Policy Dialogue
The inauguration also featured prominent figures from Nepal’s tech and academic community, including Dr. Rabindra Prasad Dhakal, Secretary of NAST, and leaders from the Department of Information Technology, CAN Federation, and the Management Association of Nepal. They highlighted the transformative power of IT and AI, advocating for stronger institutional support for youth-led innovation. A key point of discussion was the need for policies that nurture a culture of research and development, especially in light of recent budget cuts that have impacted innovation capacity.
Push for 5G and Enhanced Connectivity
In a significant announcement, Minister Gurung directed Nepal Telecom (NTC) and the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to accelerate the rollout of 5G services. He also called for improved 4G connectivity across the country, particularly in underserved areas, underscoring that a robust digital infrastructure is the foundation for achieving the goal of digital governance.
KCC Exhibit 2025: A Catalyst for a Digital Nepal
The successful inauguration of KCC Exhibit 2025 not only celebrated student ingenuity but also provided a crucial forum for high-level discussions on technology, policy, and education. It reflects a growing consensus that a concerted effort from all stakeholders—government, academia, and industry—is essential to build a digitally empowered and prosperous Nepal. The event has set the stage for continued dialogue and action, reinforcing the idea that innovation is the key to unlocking the nation’s full potential.
