The Student Quality Circle (SQC) of Kantipur Engineering College (KEC) organized a special session on personal finance management, coinciding with the rewarding of distinction holders from the last two semesters with Pride of KEC certificates.
The event began with the distribution of the Pride of KEC certificates, where distinction holders from the past two semesters were recognized by Prof. Dr. Keshar Prasain, Principal of KEC, and Prof. Nabin Chandra Sharma, Academic Coordinator of KEC. Following the ceremony, Manil Shrestha, Director of Operations at Women LEAD Nepal, led an insightful session on personal finance management.
KEC Hosts Personal Finance Management Session
The session aimed to provide attendees with a solid foundation for managing their personal finances effectively to achieve financial goals and secure their future. It covered crucial aspects of personal finance management, including budgeting, saving, and investing.
Participants learned the importance of understanding income and expenses, creating realistic budget plans, and regularly reviewing them. The session emphasized the significance of establishing an emergency fund and setting savings goals. Practical tips on automating savings transfers were shared to help build a financial safety net.
The psychological aspects of spending were also addressed, discussing how impulses and marketing can lead to impulsive buying. Attendees were given strategies to curb these tendencies, such as waiting 24 hours before making non-essential purchases and using shopping lists.
The session concluded with a structured approach to financial success, starting with budgeting, setting aside savings, and making informed investment decisions.
This inaugural event by the SQC at Kantipur Engineering College provided valuable advice and set a high standard for future activities, aiming to empower students with essential life skills.
