KIMFF To Kick-Off Virtually From 10th December

Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (Kimff) is all set to be organized on 10th-14th December 2020. Due to restrictions in mass gathering because of COVID19, this time the festival will be hosted virtually. By screening some of the most recent and exciting films about mountain people, cultures, societies, environment, sports, and adventure from around the world, Kimff will celebrate the complexity and diversity of mountain life.

The program will have 18 films in the international program and 14 films in the Nepal Panorama section. In addition to that, there will be virtual Q&A, interaction, and engagement sessions with participating filmmakers, jury, scholars, authors, journalists, artists, activists, mountaineers, and guest speakers. Also, on-demand screenings, guest lectures, and exhibitions of books, photography exhibitions, and workshops for filmmakers.

About KIMFF                                   

Kim started as a biennial festival with an attendance of like-minded film and adventure enthusiasts in 2000 and after 2006 the festival has become a yearly event. This festival has grown into a world-class film festival that presents quality films and exposes local audiences to current trends in global independent cinema.

Selection Process

In kimff, there will be a selection of a diverse range of films from Nepali and international makers. All films submitted will be evaluated by an international jury. Also, the films which are accepted but not selected for competition will be screened and be
eligible for the Audience Award.

Furthermore, To promote Nepali films and nurture the local film community in all genres, films made by Nepalese filmmakers will participate in a separate showcase of Nepali entries, ‘Nepal Panorama’.

CRITERIA & ENTRY CONDITIONS

Note: The festival will not be responsible for any loss, damage, and/or delay of films in transit.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

The submission for the film is closed now. The deadline for the submission of all entries to the festival was by 1 September 2020 which should be sent to Kim Secretariat in Kathmandu.

JURY AND AWARDS

International Competition:

Position Prize
First Prize NRs. 2,00,000.
Second Prize NRs. 1,50,000.
Third Prize NRs. 1,00,000.

Nepal Panorama:

Award Prize
Best Documentary: NRs. 75,000.
Best Fiction:  NRs. 1,00,000.

Best Mountain Adventure Film:     NRs. 1,00,000.

Audience Award:                             NRs. 75,000.

Note: All films are eligible for the Audience Award. It also includes a citation and a trophy.

AFK Subtitle Support

Alliance Française de Katmandou (AFK) will support Nepali prize-winning filmmakers to subtitle their films in the French language.
